Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant:
A Place to Love or to Fall in Love
Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant celebrates its 90th birthday in 2012. It’s the last surviving mountain lodge on a lake in Georgia. Because it has stayed true to the look and the feeling of another, perhaps more peaceful, time, it’s been called both a regional and a national treasure. Restored by preservationists in 2008, it features gardens of native plants, rock pillars and walkways, locust log decks, and balconies with views of Lake Rabun and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. Lake Rabun is one of the most beautiful lakes in the mountains of North Georgia.
The relaxed atmosphere in the hotel allows guests to do as much or as little as they like. There are two pianos and talented guests are encouraged to play. There are board games, a cozy bar, and fine dining. In season, high-quality entertainers bring the music of the mountains to our dining guests.
For guests at our Lakemont hotel, the wide hallway upstairs along the eight rooms holds a tableau of fresh cookies and beverages to enjoy.
The design of our Blue Ridge Mountains hotel has a woodsy feeling of an old mountain lodge. Colorful oriental rugs and local fine art throughout the hotel and restaurant give the place a feel of old world charm and elegance.
Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant won a spot on National Geographic Traveler’s 2009 Annual Top Stay List.
Pick Your Pleasure
North Georgia Mountain Hiking, Water Sports, Horseback Riding, Fly Fishing,
Golfing, and More
Outdoor sports and activities are plentiful near our hotel in the Blue Ridge Mountains, from fishing to kayaking to hiking. We provide concierge services for activities such as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, boat rentals and tours, fly fishing, zip-lining, bird watching, and world-class golfing.
Hikes and other activities are also available at nearby Tallulah Gorge State Park.
Special events, including weddings and parties, may be arranged at the hotel or, for larger guest lists, at the new stone pavilion across the street on Lake Rabun.
Overall, the setting and the hotel are peaceful and serene. “I wanted to create a space where people could sort of back out of the world and reclaim their relationships with nature, the past, and their loved ones and have some fun while doing that,” the owner said.
A Blue Ridge Mountains Hotel with Enchanting Views
in Every Direction
The Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant sits on a hill overlooking Lake Rabun across the road. There are views of the lake, Hall’s Boat House & Marina, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our Rabun County hotel is beautifully set in the trees, with many decks and sitting areas to enjoy the views. There is a black locust log balcony overlooking a small waterfall and koi pond with views of Lake Rabun, on a deck that is furnished with Adirondack furniture and blankets for cool evenings: a delightful spot to enjoy a first cup of coffee to start your day or a glass of wine in the evening. It’s located right outside the Andreae Room and the Lake Rabun Room but is available to any of our guests.
All rooms in our Blue Ridge Mountains hotel also have access to the Tree Top Deck during the day, which sits high among the pines and hemlocks with tree-top views. The Garden Room features its own private deck constructed of black locust with a crafted mountain laurel screen supporting climbing flower vines and has a view of the lake. Enjoy outdoor dining on the covered deck by the restaurant.

Dining at Our Award Winning Restaurant
The Lake Rabun Restaurant, under the direction of Executive Chef Jamie Allred, one of the South’s rising culinary stars, works with local farms and farmers to serve only the freshest organically grown ingredients. In 2011 and 2012, the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant received Open Table Diner’s Choice Awards as one of the Top Ten Restaurants in Georgia. During the growing season, the restaurant invites local farmers to bring their organically grown produce and gardening skills to the table in Featured Farmer Thursdays, now a hugely popular, trend-setting event in Northeast Georgia. Farm to table dining in Georgia draws tourists and locals alike.
